Fort Erie Public Library

CEO Craig Shufelt stated, “We want to make it into the place to go, the place to be.”

The Fort Erie Library had been built in 1967 and not updated for forty years. The new concept needed to reflect the evolution of modern libraries from simple book repositories to gathering places for the community.

As interior designers and space planners, we developed an entrance space plan and functional service counter design including a lounge area for reading at the front window area with carrels. The new space plan accommodates people with mobility issues. The changes included all new furniture, carpeting, booth seating in some areas and a revamped children’s area with more space throughout the branch. When the design concepts were complete, we prepared construction drawings, assisted in the review of construction bids and supervised construction.

We were very pleased to partner with Lex Parker and his team for renovations at our main branch.  They were personable, professional and provided us with a number of creative ideas to choose from.  Our workplace now looks and feels like a different building, and both customers and staff appreciate the improved look and functionality
